Join us for an 8-hour, premium citizen science expedition sailing the pristine waters of the Bay of La Paz. Led by a PhD Marine Biologist, this is not a standard tourist trip—you will actively collaborate in molecular ecology while enjoying the quiet, wind-powered navigation of a private sailboat.
We will sail to the vibrant reef of El Zorrillito and the iconic Balandra Bay. You will participate in a guided snorkel, collecting critical seawater samples directly from the reef. Back on deck, we will deploy our portable laboratory. You will perform in situ environmental DNA (eDNA) vacuum filtration and examine live, wild plankton through our microscopy station, uncovering the invisible ecosystem beneath the surface.
Standard vs. Premium: Complete the Science
Our Standard package delivers the complete field science experience, including hands-on eDNA sampling, live plankton microscopy, all expedition equipment, and guidance from a PhD Marine Biologist.
Upgrading to the Premium Package takes the science from the beach to the lab, directly funding the rigorous processing of the samples we collect together. This covers DNA extraction, amplification, next-generation sequencing, and bioinformatic decoding, which allows us to create highly accurate wildlife inventories for your specific time and location. Ultimately, the genetic sequences from your expedition are formally published to GenBank (the global open-access genetic database) under your name, cementing your personal, lasting contribution to marine conservation.
Important Booking Note: The full price for this expedition is $3,200 MXN per seat or $25,600 MXN for a private boat (Standard) // $4,200 MXN per seat or $33,600 MXN for a private boat (Premium). Today, you will only be charged a 30% deposit to secure your date. The remaining balance will be collected via cash, card, or transfer upon check-in. Please note: A minimum of 6 passengers is required to confirm departure. If the minimum is not met, we will contact you 72 hours prior to discuss rescheduling, buyout options, or a full refund.
